"There aren't many bands that seamlessly blend European folk with American bluegrass and country. There are even fewer Dutch bands that can or even attempt to do so. Sunfire is therefore a unique ensemble. The Devil's Drink is their most ambitious and successful album to date - from a genuine follow-up to Dolly Parton's Jolene to a murder ballad that would make Nick Cave very cheerful. Violinist Sophie Zaaijer continuously demonstrates significant development in both lively and melancholic passages. Not to mention frontman/multi-instrumentalist Satria B. Karsono's progression as a singer-slash-roaring animal (Grit) and author of one-act plays in Leone ocher tones. And indeed, that devil lurks everywhere. The highlight is the twelve-minute-long and excellently arranged The Hunter, which encompasses a multitude of moods and tempo changes. The Child in Time of Western Folk?"
